She learned about business and how to be an entrepreneur from her grandfather who would let her type up proposals and estimates. Her grandmother's wood work carvings have been an inspiration, she learned how to pay attention to detail and to be curious. Her mother's work sewing artistry, creativity and resourcefulness have been a great influence in Susan's creativity and work ethic. Susan also studied at Western Carolina University graduating with a Master of Construction Management.
Susan started working in San Francisco, CA as a residential designer. She took a detour from architecture for 12 years, building businesses in fitness and bicycle manufacturing. While working in Virginia she worked with Tom Kerns designing churches and condominium renovations.
